Home inspections are a crucial aspect of any real estate deal. They are designed to ensure that a home is in good condition and, more importantly than that, is safe enough to live in. The presence of leaks, mold, or termites may not be immediately apparent when you’re walking through a home, so hiring a home inspector to identify these (or other) issues is essential.
On average, home inspections cost between $300 to $500, but this is a small expense to identify, and hopefully negotiate a resolution for, issues that could be even costlier.
After the home inspection is complete, you will receive an extensive report on what was found. This report could reveal issues you never anticipated upon your first viewing of the home, so I highly recommend getting the inspection out of the way as soon as you’re under contract. It will be far easier to handle unexpected hurdles if they’re revealed early on in the deal.
